A Message From the Chair
Greetings HCREC Members: Welcome to the first edition of our monthly newsletter. We will be bringing you important information about what your Board is working on, what our Committees are doing to further the mission of the HCREC and the Republican Party, and what YOU can do to help!
We hope you were able to join us at this year’s Lincoln Day Dinner where we had an all-Florida speaker lineup. Governor Ron DeSantis, Congresswoman Laurel Lee and Congressman Byron Donalds brought our guests to their feet with their rousing speeches about the issues of the day. Our Master of Ceremonies Vann Morris kept the magic moving along and closed the evening with his heartfelt presentation of “Old Glory.” Thank you to our Dinner Committee: Carmen Edmonds, Clarice Henderson, and Kris Beaird and to all the volunteers who made our first fundraiser a success.

Your Hillsborough Republican News
Republicans Don’t Support Banning Books - Republicans Support Age Appropriate Books in our School Libraries.
Members responded to our Call to Action by calling and emailing School Board members, and by speaking at the Hillsborough County School Board hearing regarding the book, This Book is Gay Speakers told the Board members that this book is age inappropriate for students in middle school. The Superintendent agreed and recommended that this book not be made available in any public middle school in Hillsborough County.
Four School Board members agreed that the book was age inappropriate and voted to keep the book out of middle school libraries. Those members were: Patti Rendon, Stacy Hahn, Henry Washington, and Lynn Gray. Members Nadia Combs, Jessica Vaughn, and Karen Perez voted against the resolution to keep this book out of middle school libraries.
