Melony Williams is a proud graduate of the original Middleton Middle School and Hillsborough High School. Born and raised in Tampa’s District 5, she has dedicated her life to serving others both in the United States and abroad. As a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel with over 29 years of honorable service, Melony brings proven leadership, operational excellence, and a results oriented mindset to every challenge. 
Her military service has prepared her with the unique experience, discipline, and perspective needed to address the diverse needs of the community. She has led at every level, managed multimillion dollar budgets, developed and implemented policies and regulations, and held a top secret security clearance while handling sensitive and mission-critical information with the highest level of trust and confidentiality. Her ability to navigate complex systems and deliver strategic outcomes reflects the caliber of leadership she is ready to bring to City Council.

Melony entered the race for Tampa City Council District 5 to continue building on the progress already underway, to deliver real solutions to the issues impacting families, individuals, and business owners, and to help restore hope, faith, and trust in the community she knows personally. She believes in the promise of District 5 and is committed to helping it grow stronger with a renewed vision and meaningful action. Her campaign is focused on unity, tangible results, and being a trusted voice and listening ear for every resident, veteran, business owner, school, nonprofit, non-governmental organization, community leader, and faith leader in the district.

What sets Melony apart is her unwavering dedication to public service, her commitment to lead with integrity and transparency, and her readiness to work collaboratively across all sectors to move District 5 forward. She is devoted to lifelong learning and personal growth in order to create sustainable impact. Melony is not running for recognition. She is running to serve, to amplify the voices of those often unheard, and to ensure District 5 receives the respect, resources, and representation it rightfully deserves. 

Platform:
Melony’s platform for Tampa City Council District 5 focuses on advancing housing affordability, workforce development, public safety, transportation, and local business growth. She is committed to increasing funding for home repairs, expanding rent-to-own opportunities, and ensuring CRA funds are equitably distributed. Melony will strengthen job training partnerships to support youth, veterans, returning citizens, and individuals with disabilities. Her public safety priorities include expanding after-school and mentoring programs, investing in youth development centers, and promoting community-based violence prevention. She advocates for improved transit routes, safer streets, and better pedestrian access. Additionally, Melony supports expanding small business grants, low-interest loans, and technical assistance to underserved neighborhoods. Her platform is rooted in equity, empowerment, and transparency, delivering tangible benefits for the residents of District 5.
